US Manufacturing Rebounds, Leading Global Growth, Pushing Stocks and Rates Higher, While Potentially Weakening the Dollar
The manufacturing sector appears to be emerging from an 18-month recession, with the March report of U.S. Manufacturing PMI showing expansion for the first time since October 2022. The two subindices that powered the shift were new orders and production. The rebound in manufacturing has brought about a firming in goods prices, unsettling markets that were hoping for Fed rate cuts, delaying policy easing until the second half of 2024 or early in 2025.
