Leading Indicators Reinforce Recession Fears
Evidence is mounting that the economy is heading toward recession. The November Conference Board report of the Leading Economic Index, an aggregate of many of the most reliable leading economic indicators, decreased by 0.8 percentage points in October to 114.9, the eighth consecutive month of decline. The index is now down over the last six months and also down on a year-over-year basis, two measurements that are reliable recession indicators.
